The SC802A from SignalCore is a Broadband Frequency Synthesizer that generates an output frequency from 1.25 to 20 GHz. This synthesizer has a frequency resolution of 1 MHz with a tuning speed of less than 500 µs. It delivers an output power of up to +7 dBm, has a phase noise of less than -115 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset and sideband spurious levels of better than -60 dBc, and harmonics of less than -65 dBc.
This SC802A has a multi-loop architecture that helps improve phase noise compared to single-loop integer-N or fractional-N synthesizers by 15-20 dB. It also has an additional capability of sweep/list mode that is useful for automated test systems, telecommunication equipment, and scientific research labs. This synthesizer incorporates three interfaces - USB, SPI, and UART (RS-232) to provide an internal signaling path for communication. It is available in a rugged surface-mount package that measures 2.75 x 1.75 x 0.31 inches and is ideal for automated devices or IC testers, wireless communication equipment, frequency converters, local oscillators, digital data converter clock sources, quantum computing, network equipment, and test and measurement applications.
