The Yellow Jacket Series from Warrior RF are Ultrafast Frequency Synthesizers that operate from 10 MHz to 2.4 GHz. They have an extremely fast switching speed of 0.2 ns over the entire frequency range with no band breaks. For real-time frequency changes or pulse-forming, the units can be commanded via the industry-standard parallel port to change frequencies using Single Data Rate strobes. There is also a mode for Dual Data Rate (DDR) strobes which allows consecutive frequency changes every 10 ns.
The frequency synthesizers deliver output with an amplitude of 10 dBm and SSB phase noise of -145 dBc/Hz. The synthesizers have a frequency step size of 0.1 Hz, an RF switching time of 0.2 ns, and a frequency cycle time of 8 ns. They completely remove the need to use FETs or PIN-diodes for RF pulse formation because the sinewave is turned on and off at the 64-bit digital phase accumulator. This method of pulse forming produces amplitude isolation greater than 100 dBc for the pulse “off state”.
For ultimate speed, the pre-stored list mode allows the unit to change frequency (or phase) every 0.167 ns or 6 billion steps/second, producing linear or non-linear FM chirps with ultra-clean sweep rates of 6,000 GHz/s (Example 1KHz step size).
The Yellow Jacket Series is available in 19-inch, 1U enclosures that measure 19.00 x 17.50 x 1.73 inches and has SMA connectors.
