The QPF4518 from Qorvo is a 5 GHz Integrated Front End Module (FEM) that is designed for Wi-Fi 5 applications. It consists of a 5 GHz power amplifier (PA), a single pole two-throw switch (SP2T), and a bypassable low-noise amplifier (LNA). The receive path of this module is pinned out so that external filtering can be added in the optimal position. This FEM has integrated die level filtering for 2nd and 3rd harmonics as well as 2.4 GHz rejection for DBDC operation. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes less than 320 mA of current.
The QPF4518 provides an output power from 23 to 25 dBm with a Tx gain of 32 dB and an Rx noise figure of 2 dB. This FEM is available in a 24-pin QFN package that measures 5 x 3 mm. It is ideal for use in access points, wireless routers, residential gateways, customer premise equipment, and IoT applications. The compact form factor of this FEM and the integrated matching minimize the layout area in the application.
