The QPF4659 from Qorvo is a Wi-Fi 7 Front-End Module (FEM) that operates from 5.925 to 7.125 GHz. It consists of a power amplifier (PA), single-pole double-throw (SP2T) switch, low noise amplifier (LNA), broad range, constant slope voltage logarithmic power detector, and an RF coupler. This FEM is matched to 50 ohms and has a compact form factor that minimizes the layout area in the application. It is optimized in performance by low power consumption while maintaining the highest linear output power and leading-edge throughput. This front-end module achieves high performance across a wide bandwidth, enabling operation in all the channels from UNII5-8 (5.9 to 7.1 GHz). It provides application feedback using an integrated coupler and logarithmic power detector.
This FEM supports integrated die-level filtering for second and third harmonics as well as 2.4 GHz rejection for DBDC operation. On the Tx side, it delivers an output power of 13 dBm with a gain of 32 dB, while on the Rx side, it provides a gain of 16 dB and has a noise figure of 1.8 dB. This front-end module requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes 20 mA of current (Rx). It is available in a laminate package that measures 3.0 x 3.0 mm and is ideal for access points, wireless routers, set-top boxes, customer premise equipment, and IoT applications.
