The UBX-G8020-KT from u-blox AG is a GNSS SoC that is designed for wearable devices. It has a built-in LNA & DC/DC converter and supports crystal or TCXO oscillators. This chip has built-in spoofing detection and active CW detection and removal for anti-jamming capabilities. It supports GPS, QZSS, GLONASS constellations, and SBAS like WAAS, EGNOS, and MSAS. The SoC is designed for applications where small size, high performance, minimal power, and low system costs are required and include a dedicated mode for wrist worn applications.
The UBX-G8020-KT has a cold start time of 30 s, aided start time of 2 s, and a hot start time of 1 s. It has a tracking & navigation sensitivity of -166 dBm and a reacquisition sensitivity of up to -160 dBm. This SoC has a horizontal positional accuracy of up to 2.5 m (GPS) and up to 4 m (GLONASS). It has an integrated odometer in the navigation filter and supports data logging & geofencing for up to 4 circular areas. The chip can be controlled via UART, USB 2.0, DDC, and SPI interfaces. It requires a DC supply from 1.4-3.6 V and consumes less than 16 mA of current. This chip is available in a 40-pin QFN package that measures 5.00 x 5.00 x 0.59 mm and is ideal for wearable devices, and industrial and consumer applications.
