The SE868K5-DR from Telit Cinterion is a Dual-Frequency Multi-Constellation GNSS Positioning Receiver that operates in the GPS/QZSS (L1 + L5), Galileo (E1 + E5), GLONASS (L1), and BeiDou (B1 + B2) bands. This receiver is designed to provide reliable performance and continuously relays the positioning data even when the satellite signal is unavailable. It uses two frequencies (i.e. L1/E1 and L5/E5) to provide a horizontal positioning accuracy of better than 1 m and reduce multipath effects in urban areas. This module consists of a powerful baseband processor, an embedded memory and PSRAM, an integrated PGA, a SAW filter, and a switching regulator. It also integrates dead reckoning capabilities by adding an external inertial measurement unit (IMU).
The SE868K5-DR’s SAW filter ensures improved coexistence across various bands and also includes EGNOS, WAAS, GAGAN, and MSAS capabilities with embedded positional error correction, thereby contributing to enhanced positioning accuracy. This GNSS module supports ephemeris file injection and local prediction of short-term ephemerides for faster time-to-first-fix. It also provides the output of raw measurements in RTCM format for high-precision applications. This receiver reports navigation data over UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces as per the NMEA protocol standard. It has a 1PPS output for precise timing.
This RED-compliant positioning receiver has an acquisition sensitivity of -146 dBm and a tracking/navigation sensitivity of -165 dBm. It requires a DC supply from 1.72 to 1.89 V and consumes 66 mW (acquisition) and 74 mW (tracking/navigation) of power. This RoHS-compliant receiver is available in a compact 32-pad QFN-like package that measures 11.0 x 11.0 x 2.8 mm and is ideal for asset trackers, automotive telematics, and fleet management applications.
