The Model 1414-2500 from TSL is a high power, flexible solid-state RF source that operates from 960 MHz to 1215 MHz. This high power source has been developed for specific requirements in avionics testing that include TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation System), DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) & IFF (Identification Friend or Foe). It can generate an output power up to 64 dBm (2.5 KW).
When operated in the TACAN mode, it produces a Gaussian-type RF waveform (or other waveform specified by the user) in accordance with MIL-STD-291 covering the frequency range of 960 MHz to 1215 MHz.
When operated in the IFF mode, the unit generates 2 or 4 pulses at 1030/1090 MHz depending on the mode of operation selected. A special SLS mode is provided with a maximum 23 dBm which produces 3 pulses with pulse P2 variable between -12 dB and +3 dB relative to pulse P1 and P3.
The Signal Source is equipped with a large 7” display and user-friendly equipment that responds to commands entered via the front panel keyboard. All timing and pulse configurations are selectable via the front panel keyboard. Proprietary circuits developed by TSL Engineering make it possible to achieve high-quality waveforms with minimal size and weight for portability to the test site. The unit is equipped with a high accuracy internal frequency source, 24 dB attenuator, rear panel RF monitor port, and interactive display. The internal circuitry is FPGA-based and several waveforms are preprogrammed for easy access and test purposes.
Optional configurations are available upon request for operating the system with an external RF source and external modulation.
