The VSX3716 from Communications and Power Industries is a GaN Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates in the X-band from 9.0 to 10.0 GHz. It delivers a pulsed saturated output power of 1.5 kW with a small signal gain of 58 dB, a pulse width from 1 to 100 µs, and a duty cycle of up to 10%. This SSPA uses a cooling system based on the conduction mechanism and is designed to deliver high efficiency, power, and compactness with proven GaN transistor technology.
The VSX3716 requires a DC supply of 50 V. It is available in a rugged module that measures 12.6 x 1.84 x 10.60 inches and has SMA-female input connectors and a half-weight WR90 output interface. It is ideal for use in pulsed radars, TWTA replacements, and airborne radar applications.
