The VSX3717 from Communications & Power Industries is a Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates in the X-Band from 9 to 10 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 4 kW (pulsed), has a pulse width from 1 to 100 µs, and a maximum duty cycle of 10%. The SSPA utilizes GaN transistors to provide high gain, high efficiency, and excellent pulse fidelity providing excellent AM/PM, phase-noise, and spectral re-growth. It requires a DC supply of 50.5 V and consumes less than 70 A of current. The amplifier is available in a module with an SMA-female input connector and a WR90 waveguide interface at the output. This air or liquid-cooled amplifier has been optimized for pulse radars and can be used in airborne radars and for TWTA replacements.
