The dB-8048 from dB Control is a Pulsed Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates from 2.9 to 3.3 GHz. It delivers a peak output power of 1.5 kW with pulse widths from 0.5 µs to 100 µs and a maximum duty cycle of 10%. This class-B amplifier is based on GaN technology and has an efficiency of better than 20%. It provides a 2nd harmonic rejection of better than -30 dBc, has a propagation delay of less than 100 ns and a maximum droop of 0.8 dB. This SSPA is designed for high-performance MIL-STD applications where high reliability and ruggedness are critical to system performance. It has a compact modular design and scalable architecture which allows for phase combining to achieve up to 6 and 10 kW of output power.
The dB-8048 requires a DC supply of 50 V, consumes 20 A of current and has built-in monitor and protection circuits. It is available in an enclosure that measures 353.0 x 290.0 x 91.7 mm with SMA-female and N-type (female) connectors. This SSPA complies with the MIL-STD-108E standard for drip proofing and the MIL-STD-461G standard for EMI/EMC. It is suitable for use in high-performance radar, high-resolution SAR systems and ground/naval/airborne platforms.
