The DM-X1K0-03 from Diamond Microwave is a X-band GaN pulsed solid state power amplifier that operates from 8.9 to 9.3 GHz. This amplifier consists of two DM-X400-02 HPAs, to deliver a peak pulsed power of more than 900 watts across a 5% bandwidth. This amplifier assembly can be provided with two amplifiers arranged edge-to-edge or with a common heatsink sandwiched between the pair. Each amplifier has internal phase adjustment applied to optimize the power combining. The standard design has an N-type output connector, but a waveguide interface can be offered as an option.
This SSPA is a “smart” product, with control and monitoring functions accessed via an ethernet port. All monitored parameters are addressable via the ethernet interface with self-protection activated if the SSPA detects that a default or user-set threshold is crossed for RF power, temperature, duty cycle or current. The SSPA will provide a visible alarm and alert the host system when a threshold is exceeded.
