The 2180 from Empower RF Systems is a Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates from 1000 to 2500 MHz. It delivers a CW output power of more than 2000 W and a gain of 63 dB (gain adjustment range 20 dB). The amplifier utilizes high-power GaN devices that provide a wide frequency response, high gain, high peak power capability, and low distortions. It employs advanced broadband RF matching networks and combining techniques, EMI/RFI filters, and all qualified components for exceptional performance, long-term reliability and high efficiency.
The Model 2180 supports AGC, ALC, MGC, and selectable modulation modes that ease system integration. It is ideal for use in Satcom Uplink, GPS Jamming, Cyber/EW, Effects Testing, and Directed Energy research applications.
The amplifier is equipped with a built-in control and monitoring system which allows ease of access, remote management and diagnostics by simply connecting the unit’s Ethernet port to a LAN. The control system core runs an embedded OS (Linux), has a built-in non-volatile memory for event recording, and factory setup recovery features. It has an extended memory option for storage of control parameters and event logs.
This 50-ohm SSPA is available in an enclosure that measures 17.5 x 14.0 x 22.0 inches with N-type (female) connectors and has in-built air-cooling system. It is suitable for octave bandwidth high power CW, modulated, and pulse applications.
The amplifier requires a supply voltage of 208 V and consumes 10,000 VA of power.
