The 2217 from Empower RF Systems is a Solid-State Pulsed Power Amplifier System that operates from 5.2 to 5.9 GHz. It provides a pulsed output power of more than 8000 W with a gain of over 70 dB (±1 dB). This amplifier system has a duty cycle of up to 20%, a pulse width of up to 500 µs, a pulse droop of 1.2 dB and a rise/fall time of 70 ns. It is ideal for Radar and Jamming applications and applications that require instantaneous pulse operations.
The amplifier subsystem features multiple high power GaN on SiC devices that provide a wide frequency response, high gain, high peak power capability, and low distortions. It uses advanced broadband RF matching networks and combines techniques, EMI/RFI filters, and all qualified components to achieve exceptional performance, long-term reliability, and high efficiency.
This class AB amplifier system includes a built-in control and monitoring system, with protection functions which preserve maximum output capability and reliability. It allows remote management and diagnostics through an embedded web server using the Ethernet port.
The 2217 is available in a rugged enclosure with multi-drawer integrated subsystems that measures 31.5 x 22.0 x 17.0 inches with N-type (female) input connector and WR-159 output interface. Each drawer is constructed within single drawer including the integral forced air-cooling fans. It requires a three phase AC supply of 180 – 260 V.
