The QPB0220N from Qorvo is a GaN Solid-State Spatial Combining Amplifier that operates from 2 to 18 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 218.8 W (~53.4 dBm) with a small signal gain of 16 dB and a power-added efficiency (PAE) of 19.5%. This power amplifier is based on Qorvo’s patented and field-proven Spatium combining technology that provides excellent performance in a light, rugged, compact module, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership compared to alternative technologies. The QPB0220N is equipped with an integrated bias card, which allows for the reduction of electrical losses in the bias networks, and weight reduction over using a separate bias card. It also provides individualized bias settings for each amplifier blade in the system along with drain pulsing of up to 1 MHz for superior power savings and noise performance. This amplifier requires a DC supply of 18 V and consumes 54 A of current. It is available in a module that measures 11.33 x 3.40 x 3.40 inches with N-type (female) and SMA (female) connectors and is ideal for TWTA amplifier replacement applications.
