The TDLM961122MC-299 from Teledyne e2v HiRel Electronics is a High-Power Silicon PIN Diode Limiter Module that operates from 960 MHz to 1215 MHz covering the Aeronautical Radio Navigation Service (ARNS)/ Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) frequency range. It provides passive receiver protection (always on), which protects against an average CW input power up to 48 dBm and peak input power up to 60 dBm. This limiter maintains a low flat leakage of less than 14 dBm and reduces spike leakage to less than 0.5 ergs. It has an insertion loss of 0.4 dB and a return loss of 15 dB.

The RoHS-compliant Limiter Module carries a Class 1C ESD rating (HBM) and has an MSL 1 moisture rating. It is available with excellent thermal characteristics in a compact, low profile surface-mount package that measures 8 x 5 x 2.5 mm. It is based on hybrid assembly technology utilized extensively in high-reliability, mission-critical applications.

The limiter has excellent thermal management features, with a proprietary design methodology that minimizes thermal resistance from the PIN Diode junction-to-base plate (RTHJ-A). The limiter design employs a two-stage detector circuit which enables ultra-fast turn-on of the high-power PIN Diodes.
