The ADMV1530 from Analog Devices is a GaAs Double Balanced Mixer MMIC with an RF/LO frequency from 5 to 30 GHz and an IF frequency from DC to 10 GHz. It can be used as either an up-converter or a down-converter and requires no external components or matching circuitry. This mixer is fabricated using a gallium arsenide (GaAs), monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) process. In the down-conversion mode, the mixer has a P1dB of 17 dBm with a conversion loss of 7 dB, and in the up-conversion mode, it has a P1dB power of 13 dBm and a conversion loss of 12 dB. This mixer provides an LO to RF isolation of 40 dB, an LO to IF isolation from 35 to 50 dB, and an RF to IF isolation of 25 dB.
The ADMV1530 provides excellent local oscillator (LO) to RF and LO to IF suppression due to optimized balun structures. It is available in an 18-terminal LGA package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is ideal for microwave and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) radios, test equipment, military electronic warfare (EW), electronic countermeasure (ECM) and command, control, communications, and intelligence (C3I) applications.
