The K-MC3 from RFbeam Microwave is a Radar Transceiver that operates from 24.050 to 24.250 GHz. It has a dual 54-patch narrow beam antenna with an antenna gain of 21 dBi and a receive gain of 19 dB. This transceiver is a 108-patch Doppler module with an asymmetrical narrow beam for long-distance sensors. It has an RF low noise amplifier with two IF pre-amplifiers for both I and Q channels which significantly reduces the need for external analog electronics. This transceiver also has an additional buffered Mixer DC output for special signal condition applications that greatly improves flexibility in FSK-ranging applications. It requires a DC supply of 3.3 or 5 V and consumes 90 mA of current.
The K-MC3 has a unique “RSW” Rapid Sleep Wakeup function with a wakeup time of less than 4 µs making this module ideal for battery-operated equipment. It delivers a Tx power (EIRP) of +19 dBm, has an Rx sensitivity of -126 dBm, and a detection range of 70 meters for a moving person, and more than 180 meters for a moving car. This radar transceiver has a beam aperture of 25°/7° and is electrically compatible with RFbeam K-MC1. It has a frequency tuning range of 300 MHz and a spurious emission of less than -30 dBm. This transceiver is available in a compact package that measures 105 x 85 x 5 mm and is ideal for traffic supervision and counting, object speed measurement systems, ranging of objects using FSK or FMCW, and industrial sensor applications.
