The Sona™ IF573 from Laird Connectivity is a Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth® 5.4 Combo Module that is optimized for low-power mobile devices. It is based on Infineon’s AIROC™ CYW55573 chipset and supports IEEE 802.11ax tri-band (2.4/5/6 GHz) 2x2 MIMO with PHY data rates up to 1.2 Gbps (for 5/6 GHz). This module is pre-calibrated and integrates the complete transmit/receive RF paths including bandpass filter, diplexer, switches, reference crystal oscillator, and power management units (PMU). It also includes full digital MAC and baseband engines that handle all 802.11 CCK/OFDM/OFDMA® 2.4/5/6 GHz and Bluetooth 5.4 (Basic Rate, Enhanced Data Rate, and Bluetooth Low Energy) baseband and protocol processing.
The Sona™ IF573 module supports three integrated MHF4 connectors, with two ports for WLAN and one dedicated for Bluetooth. The dedicated Bluetooth port allows for excellent Wi-Fi + Bluetooth coexistence performance. It requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and uses proprietary power-save technologies for extended battery life. This module supports the latest WPA3 security standards and uses open-source software and Linux Backports to ensure compatibility with a wide variety of Linux kernels and the latest security standards.
This module is designed for industrial IoT connectivity with access to both PCIe and SDIO interfaces and an industrial operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. It is available in both M.2 2230 E-Key and M.2 1318 solder-down form factors for industrial rugged applications. The Sona™ IF573 module is also ideal for use in medical devices (infusion pumps, HD imaging, vitals monitoring, gateways, beds, blood analyzers) and rugged handheld devices.
