The IW611 from NXP Semiconductors is a 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 Module. For Wi-Fi operation, it has channel bandwidths of up to 80 MHz and includes support for uplink/downlink MU-MIMO and OFDMA. This module also includes features such as Target Wake Time (TWT), dual carrier modulation, extended range, and 802.11az accurate ranging. For Bluetooth operation, it supports Bluetooth LE (2 Mbps), Long Range, Advertising Extensions, and LE Audio with isochronous channels. It supports full-featured Bluetooth baseband and SCO/eSCO links with hardware-accelerated audio signal processing. The module has an integrated power amplifier (PA) for Bluetooth operations with a transmit power of up to 20 dBm.
The IW611 has a Wi-Fi subsystem powered by NXP’s 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) technology that integrates a Wi-Fi MAC, baseband, and direct-conversion radio with integrated PA, LNA, and transmit/receive switch removing the need for an RF front-end module. It has a Bluetooth subsystem that features Bluetooth Profiles such as hands-free (HFP), advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) for audio streaming as well as additional profiles like dual wideband speech (WBS). The high degree of integration in this module contributes to very low system costs and a minimum external BOM while achieving efficient co-existence between all internal radios as well as external radios, such as LTE. It is available in a 116-QFN or 132-WLCSP package and is ideal for IoT and industrial applications in smart homes, smart devices, and accessories, smart appliances, smart energy, industrial automation, gateways, smart lighting, POS terminals, etc.
