The LR1121 from Semtech is a LoRa Transceiver that operates from 150 – 960 MHz (sub-GHz), 1.9 to 2.1 GHz (S-Band), and 2.4 GHz (ISM). It is a LoRa/(G)FSK half-duplex RF transceiver that provides multi-band LoRa and Long Range - Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (LR-FHSS) communication. In the Rx path, it has a low noise figure RX front-end for enhanced LoRa/(G) FSK sensitivity. In the Tx path, it features high-power power amplifier (PA) path that provides an output power of +22 dBm with a high efficiency and +15 dBm for sub-GHz operation. This transceiver has an integrated PA regulator supply selector to simplify dual power +15/+22dBm with one board implementation (sub-GHz). It requires a DC supply from 1.8 to 3.7 V, consumes less than 118 mA of current in Tx mode, 8.3 mA of current in Rx mode, and 1.6 µA of current in sleep mode.
The LR1121 is fully compatible with SX1261/2/8 devices and the LoRaWAN standard defined by the LoRa Alliance and also stores of NwkKey, and AppKey as defined in the LoRaWAN standard. It is available in a QFN32 package that measures 5 x 5 mm and supports AES-128 encryption/decryption-based algorithms. This transceiver is ideal for use in smart meters, building automation, agricultural sensors, smart cities, retail store sensors, asset tracking, streetlights, parking sensors, environmental sensors, safety and security sensors, remote control applications, home automation & appliances, and radio-controlled toys & drone applications.
