The ALMA-B1 Series from u-blox are Standalone Multicore Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4 Modules. They offer excellent processing power, efficiency, and receiver sensitivity in a small form factor with support for Thread, Matter, and NFC protocols. These modules are powered by Nordic Semiconductor’s 4th generation nRF54H20 SoC with a quad-core microcontroller unit (MCU) up to 320 MHz. They have an innovative design that replaces multiple components, thereby streamlining various wireless projects. These modules integrate a high-performance antenna to further improve the extended range up to 1400 m and ensure flexibility to connect customized antennas. They require a DC supply from 1.7 to 5.5 V and consume 2 mA (Rx side) of current.
The ALMA-B1 series modules double the application processing performance and memory compared to the flagship module NORA-B1, paving the way for new innovative use cases such as AI and sensor fusion at the edge. They can also replace high-end general-purpose MCUs, memory, and wireless radio with one single compact module delivering excellent processing efficiency. These modules are equipped with various interfaces such as USB, CAN FD, I3C, 64 GPIOs, and 14-bit ADC for control.
The ALMA-B1 modules deliver an output power of up to 10 dBm and have a receive sensitivity of -100 dBm (BLE) and -104 dBm (802.15.4). These globally certified modules support the PSA-certified level 3 IoT security standard for secure operation. They are available in surface-mount packages that measure 10.4 x 14.3 x 1.9 mm and have an operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C.
