The RTP5006 from Boonton is a Real-Time Peak Power Sensor that operates from 50 MHz to 40 GHz. It has a dynamic range from -60 dBm to +20 dBm and a pulse width of more than 10 ns. This power sensor offers excellent performance with wide video bandwidth, fast rise times, fine time resolution, narrow minimum pulse widths, and good measurement reading rates. It can conduct up to 16 automated pulse parameter measurements at speeds of 100,000 measurements per second. This power sensor utilizes Boonton’s Real-Time Power Processing (RTPP) technique, enabling it to eliminate computational overhead, which results in a gap-free signal acquisition of various signal phenomena such as transients, dropouts, or interference for analysis. It offers a time base range as low as 5 ns per division, enabling users to observe meaning waveform information with superior time resolution.
The RTP5006 can be connected to a PC and software package to assess the probability of various crest factor values to gain further insight into the Device Under Test (DUT) performance. It can calculate CCDF and other statistical values from a very large population of power samples simultaneously captured at an acquisition rate of 100 Mega-samples per second (MSPS) on all the channels. This power sensor includes a built-in measurement buffer mode that is used in conjunction with the RTPP technique to display only the relevant burst or pulse information and eliminate the need to download and post-process large sample buffers. It is USB-powered and consumes less than 2.5 W of power under high-power USB transmission.
This RoHS-compliant power sensor is available as a module that measures 1.7 x 1.7 x 5.7 inches with N-type or 2.92 mm connectors. The RTP5006 is ideal for use in wireless communications (LTE, LTE-A, and 5G), consumer electronics, military radar, electronic warfare, design and verification, education, and research applications.
