The Talon RTR 2742 from Pentek is a turn-key Record and Playback System for ultra-wideband analog RF/IF signals. It uses two 12-bit, 6.4 GHz A/D converters to achieve sustained recording of 2.4 GHz bandwidth signals at a rate of up to 6 Gbps. The recorder can be configured as a one or two-channel system and can record real samples for playback. It includes a 16-bit, 6.4 GHz D/A converter which allows the device to playback analog signal bandwidths of up to 1.28 GHz. With a built-in digital up and down converter, it provides a flexible bandwidth and tuning frequency selection for both record and playback.
The RTR 2742 uses SSDs which allows it to function reliably in-ground, shipborne or airborne environments. The hot-swappable SSDs provide a storage capacity of up to 122 TB and can be easily removed or exchanged during or after a mission to retrieve recorded data.
Like other Talon recorder, the RTR 2742 includes the Pentek SystemFlow recording software which provides multiple interfaces for users to configure and control the recorder, which can be run from a remote connection over Gigabit Ethernet. It allows the recorder to be set up to run autonomously by implementing scripts or telnet interface.
The graphical user interface (GUI) includes configuration, record, playback, and status screens, each with intuitive controls and indicators. The SystemFlow signal viewer includes a virtual oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer for signal monitoring in both time and frequency domains, which is extremely useful for previewing live inputs prior to recording. The signal viewer, integrated into the recording GUI, allows the user to monitor real-time signals or signals recorded on the disk.
The RTR 2742 is available in a rugged 4U, 19-inch rackmount chassis that measures 26 x 19 x 7 inches. It operates over an AC supply from 100 to 240 V (50 to 60 Hz) and consumes up to 500 W of power.
