The AL6-NF-14-9 from L-Com is an In-line Gas Discharge Tube based Surge Protector that operates from DC to 5.8 GHz. It has an insertion loss of less than 0.7 dB and VSWR of 1.3. The device has an RMS dielectric withstanding voltage of 2500 V and a gas discharge breakdown voltage of 90V. This surge protector has a contact resistance of less than 1 megaohms and an insulation resistance of over 5000 megaohms.
Due to its excellent RF performance, this unit is ideal for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n and other 5.2 to 5.8 GHz ISM and UNII, 3.5 GHz WLL, and distributed antenna systems (DAS) protection applications. Since this protector will pass DC, it is suitable for applications where DC is carried through the coax cable such as remote amplifiers and LNAs.
The surge protector measures 2.7 x 0.9 x 1.2 inches and features a bulkhead N-Female connector on one end and a solderless crimp style interface on the other. It is designed to be attached directly onto a coax cable via the solderless crimp end of the protector. This helps improve insertion loss since a cable connector is eliminated. The protector is for use with L-com's CA-400 low loss cable, LMR 400, TWS-400, and other equivalent low loss cables. This protector is an ideal alternative to Times Microwave's LP-18-400-NF-X. The AL6-NF-14-9 is also available on pre-made CA-400 cable assemblies.
