The ADRV9006 from Analog Devices is a 2x2 RF Transceiver that operates from 30 to 6000 MHz, covering the UHF, VHF, cellular frequency bands, and ISM bands. It has dual-channel transmitters, dual-channel receivers with integrated synthesizers, and digital signal processing functions. This transceiver has a Tx/Rx bandwidth from 12 kHz (narrowband) to 40 MHz (wideband). It is designed for performance vs power consumption system optimization and is configurable. The device is ideally suited for demanding, low-power, portable, and battery-powered equipment.
The ADRV9006 consists of direct conversion signal paths with state-of-the-art noise figures and linearity. Each complete receiver and transmitter subsystem includes DC offset correction, quadrature error correction (QEC), and programmable digital filters, which eliminate the need for these functions in the digital baseband. It also has several auxiliary functions, such as auxiliary analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), auxiliary digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and general-purpose inputs/outputs (GPIOs), which are integrated to provide additional monitoring and control capability.
The fully integrated phase-locked loops (PLLs) of this transceiver provide high performance, low power, fractional-N frequency synthesis for the transmitter, receiver, and clock sections. All voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and loop filter components are integrated to minimize the external component count. It features configurable power-saving modes that extend the battery life of portable devices by reducing power consumption during periods of channel or device inactivity. The ADRV9006 requires a DC supply of 1/1.3/1.8 V and can be controlled via 4-wire SPI or LVDS & CMOS synchronous serial (SSI) data interfaces. It is available in a 196-ball CSP_BGA package that measures 12 x 12 mm and is ideal for mission-critical communications and time division duplexing (TDD) & frequency division duplexing (FDD) applications.
