The BLUEBOX from iDtronic is a short-range RFID reader that operates at frequencies from 865 to 868 MHz (ETSI) and 902 to 928 MHz (FCC). It can read tags up to a distance of 3 meters and has an integrated antenna with a gain of 3.4 dBic. The reader can transmit up to 27 dBm (0.5 W) and operates on a DC supply of 10 to 36 V. It is designed for easy installation and maintenance, allowing all power supply and communication connections to be made without opening the device.
The BLUEBOX acts as a bridge between the host system and nearby RFID transponders (tags) through a set of commands. It communicates with a host system, typically a PC or a PLC, via an RS232/RS485 serial line or an optional CAN bus interface. This short-range reader is ISO 18000-63/EPC C1 GEN protocol certified and comes in an IP65-rated housing. It measures 120 × 122 × 37 mm and features an M12 connector.
