The R720 from Impinj is a RAIN RFID Reader that is designed to support enterprise RAIN deployments. It provides industry-leading performance, enterprise-grade reliability and security, and support for next-gen RAIN tags. This reader allows IoT developers to easily build and deploy customized solutions with developer-friendly tools, increased processing power, and increased on-reader memory. It utilizes the Qualcomm QCS404 quad-core processor and has a read rate of up to 1100 reads per second. This reader enables autonomous reading of item-level data at dock doors, conveyors, and other transition points in shipping and warehousing environments where items are moving, densely packed, or blocked by other items.
The R720 has an operating frequency from 865 to 928 MHz and meets the EPCglobal UHF Gen2 v2 / ISO 18000-63 RFID air interface protocol. It delivers a transmit power of up to 33 dBm and has an Rx sensitivity of -93 dBm. This reader supports PoE (802.3af) and PoE+ (802.3at) with LLDP for power negotiation. It includes an Ethernet interface, USB (Type-C and micro), and general-purpose I/O. It is available in a rugged package that measures 21.5 x 18.7 x 3.0 cm with 4x RP-TNC monostatic antenna ports and is MIL-STD-810G certified for shock and vibration.
