The qLog (RT0012) from CAEN RFID is a semi-passive NFC/RAIN RFID Temperature Logger Tag that monitors temperature. It combines a high-resolution sensor, a large memory size, and the standard NFC/RAIN RFID interfaces to realize effective track and trace solutions for the cold chain. The RAIN RFID interface is ideal for reading temperature data or alarms from a distance allowing automated checkpoints on conveyors or through dock doors. The NFC interface permits very easy interaction with any NFC-enabled smartphone allowing the consumer to check the condition of goods at home. It has a compact size that makes it easy to use in various applications and the passive radiofrequency behavior does not prevent air shipments.
When in NFC mode, this tag operates at 13.56 MHz and has a read range of up to 5 cm while for RAIN RFID mode, it operates in the UHF band from 860 to 930 MHz and has a read range of up to 5 m. The qLog (RT0012) can be configured to store temperature data samples in intervals from 5 seconds to 18 hours in the internal memory that can contain up to 4,096 sample readings. Users can define up to 16 temperature ranges with an independent threshold alarm for very accurate control of the temperature excursions. This tag has a long battery life making it suitable for multiple shipments and the reset function helps reduces the total cost of a single monitored shipment.
The tag is available in an IP68-rated rugged package that measures 92.0 x 63.0 x 6.5 mm and has an operating temperature range from -30°C to +70°C. It is suitable for monitoring fresh food, seafood, meat and poultry, milk-based products, frozen food, pharmaceuticals, special chemical products, and clinical trials.
