The GX46 from Orbit Communications is a Ka-Band Airborne SATCOM Terminal optimized for use over Inmarsat’s GX constellation and fully interoperable with the US/Australia Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) system. It has a Tx frequency range from 29 to 31 GHz and an Rx frequency range from 19.2 to 21.2 GHz. The terminal has a 4-port, 46 cm circular polarized antenna which is fully integrated with modems, electronics, and software. It is suitable for a wide range of communication applications like in business jets, military mission aircrafts, civil aviation, commercial aircrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The combination of Orbit’s Advanced Control Loop™ algorithm and intergrated RF tracking meets the demanding accuracy requirements of the Ka-band frequency range, ensuring maximum gain and performance. The system is electronically switchable between systems and bands via Automatic Beam Switching (ABS) using industry-standard OpenAMIP and ROSS Open Antenna Management (ROAM) protocols. The GX46 is designed to withstand the most demanding airborne conditions and features a rugged electro-mechanical design that complies with the most stringent environmental standards for shocks, bumps, and vibrations.
The GX46 complies with industry regulations and standards including Inmarsat 5 and WGS and/or RTCA DO-160 F/G. It operates over a DC supply of 28 V.
