The Model 20-24M from General Dynamics Mission Systems is a SATCOM-On-The-Move Terminal that operates in the Ku, Ka (military band), Ka (COM), and X-Bands. It has been specifically designed for ground vehicle command, control, and communications (C3) missions where beyond line of sight (BLOS) SATCOM capabilities are mission-critical. This terminal shares a common technology base, components, and user interfaces with other products in the SOTM family (Models 13, 17, and 30). It requires a DC supply 28 V and consumes 350 W of power (continuous).
This SATCOM terminal has an aperture size of 24 inches and ensures superior link availability and performance over a wide range of operational conditions. It delivers reliable data rate over the RF band and offers a modular design that enhances maintainability and minimizes life cycle cost. This terminal includes an antenna that is supported by an antenna positioned, servo controller, tracking receiver, block-up and down converters, and high efficiency solid-state power amplifier on the pedestal. It also contains power, Ethernet, and L-band Tx/Rx interfaces to modem.
The Model 20-24M has a G/T of 16.4 dB/K, an azimuth beamwidth of 360°, and an elevation beamwidth from 0° to 95°. It provides an FCC VMES-compliant tracking performance and has an acquisition time of less than 5 s (hot-start) and 5 minutes (cold-start). This SATCOM terminal measures 28.9 x 27.5 inches.
