The MPT 46WGX from Orbit Communication Systems is a Multi-Purpose VSAT Terminal that operates from 29 to 31 GHz (Tx) and 19.2 to 21.2 GHz (Rx). It is a modular, highly reliable, and multi-role terminal that is fully operable between the wideband global SATCOM (WGS) system, military Ka-Band, and Viasat’s Global Xpress (GX) constellation. This terminal utilizes an innovative RF design that outperforms competing solutions in terms of terminal data rates and bandwidth efficiency. It combines Orbit’s Advanced Control Loop algorithm and RF tracking to meet the demanding accuracy requirements of Ka-Band, ensuring maximum gain, signal stability, as well as optimized margins and throughput. This terminal is electronically switchable between networks, frequency bands, and polarizations in both transmit and receive modes.
The MPT 46WGX couples high performance and Orbit’s industry-leading reliability, maintainability, and total cost of ownership, enabling a wide range of communication opportunities for a variety of airframe types. This terminal features a rugged electromechanical design that complies with stringent environmental standards for shock and vibration and includes field-proven building blocks to ensure high mean time between failure (MTBF). It supports a simplified architecture consisting of three-line replaceable units, antenna, power supply unit, and modem.
The MPT 46WGX can be installed in a few hours using built-in standardized interfaces, enabling simple integration into a range of platforms. It has a G/T ratio of 16.1 dB/K and an axial ratio of less than 1 dB. This circular/cross-polarized terminal has an azimuth beamwidth of 360°, an elevation beamwidth from 0° to 90°, and a pointing accuracy of better than 0.2°. It requires a DC supply of 28 V and consumes 175 W of power. This VSAT terminal is compliant with industry regulations and standards, including the ITU, FCC, Viasat Global Xpress, ETSI, and WGS ready.
