The VDES1000 from CML Microcircuits is a Maritime VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) Module that operates from 156.025 to 162.025 MHz. It is designed to realize a fully compliant multi-channel AIS Class A, ASM and VDE transceiver. This software defined radio (SDR) solution is implemented using state-of-the art technology to provide very tight integration and is fully upgradeable via software updates making it future proof. It integrates an isolated power supply, high Power Amplifier (PA), Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), digital baseband processing and protocol handler for AIS, ASM and VDE. The module is designed to be easily incorporated into an existing housing which ensures a speedy development cycle. It requires a DC supply of 24 V.
The VDES1000 features 6x isolated RS442, 1x NC relay output and Ethernet interfaces. It is available in an enclosure that measures 165 x 100 x 30 mm and is suitable for ship station (mobile) installation, coastal station (base station) installation, AIS Class A transceiver, ASM transceiver, VDE transceiver and complete VDES transceiver (AIS class A + ASM + VDE + GPS) applications.
