The Sidekiq™ VPX410 from Epiq Solutions is a Multi-Channel Software Defined Radio (SDR) Tuner Solution that operates from 400 MHz to 18 GHz with an instantaneous bandwidth of up to 1 GHz. It combines four RF receive tuners with one RF transmit tuner to access more RF spectrum and supports both phase coherent operation and independently tunable operation. In Rx mode, it provides a gain from 0 to 20 dB in 1 dB steps and has a noise figure of less than 12 dB while in Tx mode, it delivers an output power of 5 dBm. It has a tuning step size of 25 MHz and an SFDR of more than 70 dB. This CMOSS/SOSA-aligned tuner offers modularity that aligns with the SOSA technical standard for rapid adaptability and is suitable for emerging EW, SIGINT, C5ISR, and other mission-critical use cases.
The VPX410 is based on the Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale + MPSoC ZU4, 2 GB DDR4 RAM, and 8 GB non-volatile flash memory. It uses an on-board Linux computer that can be integrated with software frameworks such as GNU Radio, Photon, MORA, REDHAWK, and others. This system consumes 20 W of power when all four RF receive tuners and one RF transmit tuner are active. It is available in a conduction-cooled 3U VPX form factor that measures 160 x 100 x 25 mm with VITA 67.3 RF access through the backplane (SOSA profile 14.6.11-4).
