The RC-3MTS-40 from Mini-Circuits is an RF Transfer Switch Matrix that operates from DC to 40 GHz with three independently controlled, electro-mechanical transfer switches. Each transfer switch provides a simple DPDT switch application (2 input to 2 output switch matrix) and is a useful building block in much larger switch matrices. The switches are of a fail safe and break-before-make-configuration using a patented design which ensures long-term reliability, with a minimum life time of 2 million switching cycles when used within the noted specifications.
Each transfer switch can handle up to 20 W of input power, has an insertion loss of less than 0.8 dB, and provides an isolation of above 50 dB. The switch is rated for a DC supply of 24 V, a USB supply of 5 V, and has a switching time of 25 ms. It offers a fail-safe, redundant switching with a good lifetime of 2 million switch cycles.
The switch is controlled via USB or Ethernet, allowing direct control from a PC or through a remote network. It comes with a full software support that includes a user-friendly GUI application for Windows and a full API with programming instructions for Windows and Linux environments (32/64 -bit systems). The RC-3MTS-40 is available in a rugged, metal benchtop enclosure that measures 4.50 x 6.00 x 2.25 inches with 2.92 mm RF-Female connectors and is suitable for use in 5G node/device testing, automated test equipment, switch matrices, and fail-safe/redundancy switching applications.
