The RI 3101 from Ranatec is an 8 x 8 Butler Matrix that operates from 2.4 to 8 GHz. It supports multichannel MIMO testing for 8+8 antenna ports over a large frequency range covering the conventional Bluetooth and Wi-Fi bands at 2.4 and 5 GHz as well as an extension up to 8 GHz. It simulates real-world conditions, directing coverage over distances and across obstacles. This enables true testing of smartphones, sensors, routers and other access points.
This butler matrix provides isolation of over 13 dB and has an insertion loss of less than 13 dB. It can handle an input power of up to 5 W and has a VSWR of less than 1.6:1. The matrix has an amplitude deviation of less than ±3 dB and a phase deviation of 10 degrees.
The RI 3101 can be used for antenna array beamforming and interference testing for multiple systems within the frequency range and for multichannel multipath emulation. The butler matrix is available in a module that measures 138 x 131 x 19 mm with SMA-Female connectors.
