The MT8862A from Anritsu is an Advanced One-Box Wireless Connectivity Set for WLAN testing that operates in the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. It is used to measure the Tx/Rx characteristics in WLAN (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) devices over a bandwidth from 20 to 160 MHz. This test set uses the network mode to conduct Tx power, modulation accuracy, and other parametric measurements in realistic operating conditions. It uses standard WLAN protocol messaging to connect with the Device Under Test (DUT) for measuring the Tx/Rx performance items in Network Mode. The test set can measure Rx sensitivity and Tx power at 2x2 MIMO communications using two MT8862A units, which are ideal for evaluating RF characteristics of finished products at 2x2 MIMO communications.
The MT8862A can simulate access points (AP) and stations (STA) to establish the DUT network connection. It can perform RF measurements using general WLAN communications procedures without requiring special tools and control procedures, eliminating the need for configuring a special measurement environment. This tester supports Direct Mode, which performs manifold inspections on WLAN equipment and also eliminates the necessity of connecting the DUT into a dedicated test mode. The system also uses various secure connection methods such as WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, and WPA3-Personal and allows the selection of encryption schemes like TKIP and AES in combination with each standard.
This test set can be connected to an external PC using an Ethernet cable for instant access from the Web browser to complete the setup of the GUI operation environment without requiring a separate test setup operation. It uses a ping function to check connections between the client PC connected to the DUT and the external server thereby providing connection verification testing. The Wireless Connectivity Test Set is ideal for measuring the RF Tx/Rx characteristics of WLAN devices during the design and quality assurance stage.
