The VTU-5690A from Communications and Power Industries is a Cavity Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) that operates from 16.0 to 17.0 GHz. This pulsed-coupled TWT delivers an output power of up to 40 kW and has a duty cycle of 0.3% and pulse width of 20 µs. This device has a cathode pulsed and grounded collector to achieve 48 dB of gain. It has a maximum cathode voltage of -35 kV and a cathode current of up to 6.5 A.

This TWT is available in various configurations with options for grid modulation, cooling method, mechanical configuration, electrical, and RF connections. The VTU-5690A is available in a module that measures 3 x 3 x 14 inches with a WR-62 waveguide interface and is ideal for airborne radars and ground-based radar applications.
