The Ka2Go from ND SatCom GmbH is a VSAT Terminal that operates from 29.5-30 GHz (Tx) and 19.7-20.2 GHz (Rx). This rugged, small and robust terminal can be used for Eutelsat’s NewsSpotter service and offers excellent pointing accuracy of less than 0.2°. The terminal has been developed to be mounted on all passenger vehicles using commercially available roof mounts. It comprises a high-precision offset Ka-band reflector, GPS receiver, eTRIA transceiver, and compass enabling auto-pointing and auto-network acquisition.
This VSAT terminal also integrates a Ka-SAT modem, antenna controller, and an IP router which can connect smart phones or tablets to the system to control it from inside the car. It connects audio/video encoders inside the terminal to minimize the extent to which vehicle modifications can be made. The Ka2Go uses a built-in LAN or Wi-Fi interface to enable communication for both the antenna terminal and the encoder. It offers fast and stable transmission throughput rates of up to 10 Mbps even during bad weather conditions.
This terminal antenna has a diameter of 0.89 m and provides 45.8 dBi of gain. It has a horizontal beamwidth of ±190° and a vertical beamwidth of 5° to 78°. This VSAT system requires a DC supply of 26 V and consumes less than 470 W of power. It is available in an enclosure that measures 159 x 101 x 40 m and is ideal for vehicle and satellite applications.
