The RA9530 from Renesas is a Wireless Power Transmitter/Receiver (TRx) IC that supports WPC 1.3 specification. It delivers up to 50 W of power in proprietary mode and has a WattShare™ TRx mode with a Tx capability of up to 10 W. This wireless power transmitter/receiver IC supports bi-directional data communications and can be configured to receive or transmit an AC power signal through magnetic induction. It has an efficiency of up to 90% and can be controlled via the GPIO interface.
The RA9530 has an embedded 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 processor, 32 kB EEPROM memory, a high-efficiency synchronous full bridge rectifier, and control circuitry to modulate the load to send message packets to the Transmitter (Tx) to optimize power delivery. It can be configured as a wireless power transmitter that uses an on-chip full/half-bridge inverter, a PWM generator, a modulator/demodulator for communication, and a microcontroller to produce an AC power signal to drive an external L-C tank. This wireless power transmitter/receiver IC can receive an AC power signal from a wireless transmitter and converts it into rectified output voltage, which can be used to power devices or supply the charger input in mobile applications. It also has included over-temperature and voltage protection.
This wireless power transmitter/receiver IC is available in a 48-DSBGA package that measures 2.53 x 3.31 x 0.60 mm and is ideal for mobile phones, laptop & tablet computers, and industrial and medical equipment applications.
