The nRF54H20 from Nordic Semiconductor is a Multiprotocol SoC that supports Bluetooth Low Energy, LE Audio, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, and Matter protocols. This SoC supports all Bluetooth 5.4 features and is designed to support upcoming Bluetooth specifications. It has multiple Arm Cortex-M33 processors clocked up to 320 MHz, and multiple RISC-V coprocessors with each processor that brings optimized for a specific type of workload. This Bluetooth chipset has 2 MB of non-volatile memory and 1 MB of RAM which consume significantly less power than external memory. The processing power and amount of memory make it ideal for running machine learning (ML) models and sensor fusion at the edge.
The nRF54H20 supports security services such as Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Update, and Secure Storage. It has cryptographic accelerators that are hardened against side-channel attacks and tamper sensors that can detect an attack in progress and take appropriate action. This SoC is designed for PSA Certified Level 3, the highest level in the PSA Certified IoT security standard. It includes various digital and analog interfaces, including a high-speed USB (480 Mbps), two I3C interfaces, a CAN FD controller, and a 14-bit ADC.
This SoC has an Rx sensitivity of -100 dBm (for 1 Mbps Bluetooth LE) and -104 dBm (for 802.15.4 protocols). The radio Rx current is cut in half compared to nRF5340 which results in major energy savings, especially for applications that are mainly receivers, such as earbuds and wearables. It is available in a compact package and is ideal for advanced wearables, smart home & matter, medical & healthcare, LE Audio, industrial, gaming, virtual/augmented reality, and E-mobility applications.
