The EFR32BG27 Series from Silicon Labs are 2.4 GHz Bluetooth SoCs that are ideal for low-power battery-powered IoT devices. They support Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth mesh and all proprietary Bluetooth protocols. These SoCs have a 32-bit 76.8 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 microprocessor with DSP instruction and floating-point unit for efficient signal processing, up to 768 kB flash program memory and up to 64 kB RAM data memory. They support (G)FSK with fully configurable shaping, OQPSK DSSS and (G)MSK modulation schemes. The SoCs feature an integrated DCDC boost that allows operation of DC supplies from 0.8 to 3.8 V, consume less than 11.3 mA of current in Tx mode and 3.6 mA of current in Rx mode.
The EFR32BG27 series SoCs can be powered using single-cell alkaline and 1.5 V button cell batteries and have an integrated coulomb counter that enables accurate battery level monitoring to avoid unexpected battery depletion for critical applications. Additionally, the wakeup pin on the SoCs allow them to remain OFF for months, consuming less than 20 nA and ensures the battery remains fully charged for use. They have a Tx power of up to 8 dBm, an Rx sensitivity of -106.7 dBm and delivers a data rate of up to 2 Mbit/s. They can be controlled via UART, SPI, EUART, I2C, PWM, PDm and GPIO interfaces. These SoCs are available in QFN40, QFN32 or WLCSP39 packages and are ideal for connected medical devices, wearables, sensors, switches, smart locks, and both commercial and LED lighting applications.
