The EFR32FG28 from Silicon Labs is a Sub-GHz Wireless + 2.4 GHz Bluetooth LE SoC that is designed for IoT applications. This SoC has a 32-bit 78 MHz ARM Cortex-M33 MCU with DSP instruction and a floating-point unit for efficient signal processing, up to 1024 kB flash program memory and up to 256 kB RAM data memory. It includes a matrix-vector processor for AI/ML acceleration and supports 2/4 (G)FSK with fully configurable shaping, OQPSK with DSSS, (G)MSK & OOK modulation schemes. The SoC has an integrated low-energy LCD controller supporting up to 192 segments and a die temperature sensor. It requires a DC supply from 1.71 to 3.8 V, consumes less than 82.5 mA in Tx mode and 6.1 mA of current in Rx mode.
The EFR32FG28 delivers a Tx power of up to +20 dBm (Sub-GHz) and up to +10 dBm (2.4 GHz BLE radio) and has an Rx sensitivity of up to -125.3 dBm (at 2.4 kbps 868 MHz GFSK). It supports proprietary, CONNECT, Amazon Sidewalk, WM-BUS, Wi-SUN and Bluetooth Low Energy protocols. This SoC is available in a QFN68 package that measures 8.00 x 8.00 x 0.85 mm or a QFN48 package that measures 6.00 x 6.00 x 0.85 mm and is ideal for smart homes, security, lighting, building automation, and metering applications.
