Ultra-Wideband Amplifier from 0.01 to 12 GHz

The LVA-123+ from Mini-circuits is an ultra-wideband amplifier that operates from 0.01 to 12 GHz. It has a gain of 17.3 dB, gain flatness of ±0.6 dB, P1dB of +15.6 dBm and an input return loss of 20 dB. The amplifier is internally matched to 50 ohms so does not need external matching components saving board space and simplifying circuit design. This amplifier can be used in base station infrastructure, test instruments, LTE, satellite communication and avionics. It is available in a 3x3 mm 8-lead package with very good thermal performance. Coilcraft Launches a Family of High Current Inductors

Coilcraft has introduced new SLR Family of high current, shielded power inductors offering current ratings up to 100 Amps with inductance values that range from from 85 to 370 nH. These inductors are most suitable for high frequency applications such as multi-phase VRM/VRD/EVRD regulators, Intel IMVP compatible systems, and GPUs/video graphic cards. The inductors also feature a tight DCR tolerance (±5.4% to ±10%) for lossless, inductor DCR-based current sensing.

This SLR Family comprises five product series: the SLR1050, SLR1065, SLR1070, SLR1075 and SLR1190.

This compact SLR1050 Series offers an inductance range of 85 to 220 nH and current ratings up to 86 Amps in a 10.2 X 7.0 X 4.95 mm package. It is available in three DCR versions for optimal efficiency and accuracy. Read more

Directional Couplers for Turnkey & Custom Designs

DLI (a Knowles Brand) has introduced a new series of Directional Couplers that show how high permittivity, temperature stable materials can reduce size/weight and provide excellent performance repeatability.

Designed for a 50 ohms characteristic impedance, they offer a turnkey surface mount solution for high frequency power monitoring. The four port couplers are excellent for high frequency signal monitoring applications where board space is a premium and quality power detection or injection is required. COTS devices covering C, X and Ku bands offer quick turn solutions in a solder surface mount package with flexible PCB feed line configuration.  Both 10 dB and 20 dB coupling values are available within each frequency band both with a common footprint for maximum flexibility. ViaSat Receives Supplemental Type Certificate for Ka-Band Satellite Antenna

ViaSat Inc. has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) of approval from the FAA to install its Ka-band satellite antennas and radomes on the Airbus A320 aircraft. This certification, coupled with their in-cabin distribution STC, enables airlines to deploy ViaSat's complete end-to-end in-flight connectivity system.

ViaSat offers a vertically-integrated in-flight internet offering, inclusive of FAA certifications, wireless IFE system support, passenger-facing internet access portals, and an end-to-end in-flight entertainment and connectivity service extending from its highest capacity satellite system to passengers' personal devices. New MPAC-Doherty Product Family Supports GaN Power Amplifier Frequencies

Peregrine Semiconductor has introduced two UltraCMOS monolithic phase and amplitude controllers (MPAC) - The PE46130 and PE46140. These MPAC's join the PE46120 in offering phase-tuning flexibility for Doherty power amplifier (PA) optimization. Designed for the LTE and LTE-A wireless-infrastructure transceiver market, this product family now extends from 1.8 to 3.8 GHz with three separate, pin-compatible parts.

Because these controllers are based on UltraCMOS technology, they deliver the intelligent integration benefits—reliability, flexibility, smaller footprint, configurability and greater system capability—that cannot be matched by gallium arsenide (GaAs) solutions. Read more

The World's Smallest 32.768 kHz Clock Oscillator

IQD have launched what they claim to be the world’s smallest 32.768 kHz clock oscillator that measures just 1.6 x 1.2 x 0.7mm in a hermetically sealed ceramic package. With a current consumption of only 30 µA and with a standby current as low as 3 µA, this ultra-low power clock oscillator is ideal for use in hand held and battery operated applications where accuracy is required in real time clocks. Typical applications for this oscillator include battery management systems, communication modules and systems (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wireless LAN & Zigbee), LCD lighting systems and smart meters (AMR).

This new range of oscillators delivers better temperature characteristic than standard 32.768 kHz tuning fork crystal based oscillators due to the use of an AT-cut crystal normally found in higher frequency oscillators.  Read more
