Ultra-Wideband Amplifier from 0.01 to 12 GHz

The LVA-123+ from Mini-circuits is an ultra-wideband amplifier that operates from 0.01 to 12 GHz. It has a gain of 17.3 dB, gain flatness of ±0.6 dB, P1dB of +15.6 dBm and an input return loss of 20 dB. The amplifier is internally matched to 50 ohms so does not need external matching components saving board space and simplifying circuit design. This amplifier can be used in base station infrastructure, test instruments, LTE, satellite communication and avionics. It is available in a 3x3 mm 8-lead package with very good thermal performance. Absorptive SP4T Pin Diode Switch from 0.1 to 50 GHz

The P4T-100M50G-100-T-RD from Planar Monolithics is a SP4T switch that operates from 0.1 to 50.0 GHz. This absorptive pin diode switch has a low insertion loss, high isolation and can handle up to 20 dBm of power. It requires a supply voltage of -5V/+5 V and has a switching speed of 50 ns max. Channelized Digital Repeater for VHF and UHF Bands

The PSR-VU-9537 digital repeater from ADRF operates in the VHF: 136 to 174 MHz and UHF: 80 to 512 MHz bands. It supports up to 1 wideband and 8 non-Contiguous narrow-bands. Its Center frequencies are adjustable in 0.5 KHz step and Bandwidths are adjustable in 250 KHz step. The repeater has a gain of 85 dB, noise figure of less than 3 dB without duplexing, impedance of 50 ohms and VSWR of 1.3:1. The TGA2622-SM from Qorvo is a power amplifier that operates at a frequency from 9 to 10 GHz. It generates an output power of 35 Watts with a gain of 27.5 dB and an efficiency of >42%. CBNL Develops New Millimeter Wave Licensed Backhaul Solution

Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL), has announced the launch of its 39 GHz VectaStar variant – broadening the platform into the millimeter wave. As spectrum becomes an increasingly scarce resource, CBNL’s new solution unlocks the huge potential of millimeter waves to offer a more efficient route to transform last mile throughput to multiple Gigabits per second (Gbps). E-Band Signal Analysis Reference Solution for Multichannel Millimeter Wave Test

Keysight recently announced an E-band Signal Analysis Reference Solution to provide low-cost millimeter wave analysis capability for applications in the 60 to 90 GHz range. This reference solution is based on the 10-bit ADC Infiniium S-Series oscilloscope to provide 2.5 GHz of high-fidelity, millimeter wave frequency analysis bandwidth.

This Solution provides a powerful test platform for analyzing emerging communication standards operating at millimeter wave frequencies. Two-channel capability allows for testing of multichannel devices; different antenna polarizations simultaneously; and channel sounding measurements. Read more

New Technology May Double Radio Frequency Data Capacity

A team of researchers from Columbia Engineering, have invented a technology - full-duplex radio integrated circuits (ICs) - that can be implemented in nanoscale CMOS to enable simultaneous transmission and reception at the same frequency in a wireless radio. Till now, this has been thought to be impossible as transmitters and receivers either work at different times or at the same time but at different frequencies. This Columbia team, led by Electrical Engineering Associate Professor Harish Krishnaswamy, is the first to demonstrate an IC that can accomplish this. They presented their work at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in San Francisco on February 25. Read more
