Spirent GNSS Simulator Selected to Enhance Autopilot Positioning Systems

MicroPilot, a manufacturer of autopilot systems for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has selected Spirent Communications to help enhance the location accuracy and positioning resilience of its devices.

The MicroPilot engineering teams are using Spirent’s GSS9000 GNSS simulator to quickly verify their designs to offer end users the most accurate positioning regardless of their location. To deliver this performance, they are using multiple-antenna systems and require a simulator that can support these features and provide high speed simulation.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are heavily dependent on satellite-based positioning technology, such as GPS, so testing of the vehicle’s positioning capabilities must be thorough, rigorous and broad, to ensure that as wide a range as possible of potential real-world conditions has been applied. Walabot Give Users a Peek into its Powerful 3D Sensor Technology

Vayyar Imaging has unveiled four APIs for its consumer product, Walabot, an advanced 3D sensor technology that makes it possible to see through objects and materials, and can be programmed to create various applications. These APIs will enable the ability to track targets, see through walls, and monitor breathing along with out-putting the raw sensor data.

This release will give developers, makers and creators the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the platform’s powerful technology ahead of the Walabot hardware and Software Development Kit (SDK) release. Its sensor magnetically attaches to the back of one’s smartphones, and its in-wall imaging sample application is compatible with select Android devices running version 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. Pulse Introduces Ultra-thin Ceiling Mount White Antennas for DAS Applications

Pulse Electronics has added a line of white antennas to its popular Clarity family of DAS, ultra-thin, ceiling-mount, Omni-directional antennas. This extension to the translucent Clarity antenna family, offers a lower cost, yet high performance antenna that fits the aesthetic requirements of many buildings and public places. It can be installed with Pulse’s new solid-ceiling adapter that makes antenna installation amazingly simple, even in hard-pan ceilings without easy installation access.

This new Clarity White family covers cellular bands from 608 to 2700 MHz. This series of DAS antennas has exceptional PIM performance, with a rating better than -155 dBc at 2x20 watts (2x43 dBm). Read more

World’s First mmWave Software Defined Radio to Boost 5G Research

National instruments has introduced the world’s first software defined radio (SDR) for the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. This new NI mmWave Transceiver System is a full transceiver that can transmit and/or receive wide-bandwidth signals at an unprecedented 2 GHz real-time bandwidth, covering the spectrum in the E-band, 71-76 GHz. Engineers and scientists have used SDRs ubiquitously in the spectrum below 6 GHz for years. However, with companies investing in mmWave as a potential core technology for 5G, researchers now have a full-featured SDR platform to drive initiatives based on this technology.

This transceiver system includes new PXI Express modules that collectively function as an mmWave access point for a user device.  Read more
