Qualcomm Launches 5G NR mmWave and Sub-6 GHz RF Modules for Mobile Devices

Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled the first fully-integrated 5G NR millimeter wave (mmWave) and sub-6 GHz RF modules for smartphones and mobile devices. The QTM052 mmWave antenna module family and the QPM56xx sub-6 GHz RF module family pair with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem to deliver modem-to-antenna capabilities across several spectrum bands, in a very compact footprint that is suited for integration in mobile devices. Wi-Fi Alliance Evaluating the 6 GHz Band to Satisfy Expected Growth in Wi-Fi Devices

Nearly two decades ago when Wi-Fi was a nascent technology, a limited amount of mid-band spectrum (2.4 to 2.483 GHz) was made available for unlicensed use. Subsequently, as the number of devices increased the 5 GHz band was also made available to Wi-Fi. Anritsu Releases Software Updates for its Analyzers to Test 5G-NR sub-6 GHz Signals

Anritsu has introduced three software packages for its MS269x Signal Analyzer series that support measurements of RF Tx characteristics of 5G NR base stations and mobile devices. Installing the 5G Measurement Software (MX269051A) and NR TDD sub-6 GHz options (MX269051A-011 and MX269051A-061) in their existing signal analyzers creates a cost-efficient and flexible solution for chipset and device makers, and mobile operators to verify sub-6 GHz equipment being developed for the rollout of 5G. Holographic Beam Forming Technology Enables 1.3 Gbps 5G Trial at 28 GHz with In-building Penetration

Pivotal Commware, inventor of Holographic Beam Forming (HBF) technology, has successfully demonstrated 1.3 Gbps of throughput in live 5G field trials at 28 GHz. In this field trial, the Echo 5G beamforming repeater overcame the biggest obstacle to fixed 5G wireless access at millimeter waves – in-building penetration. The Echo 5G enabled Gigabit+ connectivity to an indoor subscriber after penetrating double-paned glass at a 45-degree angle from a base station at a distance equivalent to 1,640 feet.
