Webinar Overview

Smart cities leverage multiple cellular IoT-enabled solutions, such as smart waste management and smart street lighting. Cellular IoT can also enable intelligent solutions to control pests. Smart pest control devices can reduce the frequency of costly and time-consuming field visits, diminishing the carbon emission footprint and keeping cities and homes safe from infestations and potential disease. Aside from reducing carbon emissions, decreasing the use of poison and chemicals is essential to a cleaner environment.

One such solution, TrapMe, is a cellular IoT-enabled snap trap solution with an accompanying cloud-connected software portal that catches rats and sends an alert when a trap has sprung. Instead of field visits to check every placed trap, pest controllers only visit the sites as needed to collect captured pests and reset the traps.

TrapMe uses a Telit cellular module, Telit simWISE embedded SIM technology and the Telit IoT Platform. The module uses LTE-M and NB-IoT technology, which supports 3GPP's Release (Rel) 14 Power Saving Mode (PSM) and extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX), providing years of battery life. The secure, module-embedded SIM technology removes the need for a separate, physical SIM, eliminating bill of materials (BOM) costs and provides more flexible mobile connectivity. Telit's IoT Platform assists TrapMe with streamlined data management and delivery.

TrapMe began in Denmark and is now launching a U.S. version of TrapMe with Telit's LTE-M/NB2 module. This webinar will review the module and technology being utilized in this new version of TrapMe and the challenges of launching in a new area of the world. Join Telit and TrapMe for a webinar as they discuss:

  • IoT deployment lessons learned from real trial locations
  • The importance of partnering with the right IoT provider
  • Device prototype working in the U.S.
