Aviat Networks Acquires 4RF to Enhance its Industrial Wireless Access Solutions

Aviat Networks acquires 4RF Limited, a provider of industrial wireless access solutions. This acquisition aims to expand Aviat's product offerings, particularly in the narrowband point-to-point/multi-point radios and Private LTE and 5G routers segments.

Aviat Networks is a company specializing in wireless transport and access solutions. The acquisition of 4RF is intended to improve its capabilities in supporting critical infrastructure sectors such as utilities, oil and gas, mining, public safety, and military. 4RF’s products are designed for applications including Private LTE/5G, smart grids, distribution automation, metering, renewables, SCADA, and telemetry.

The acquisition comes at a time of increasing global investment in critical infrastructure. The growing demand for secure, automated, and data-intensive communication networks, along with the expanding availability of spectrum for private networks, is expected to drive growth. The narrowband connectivity segment is valued at $200 million, and the Cellular (LTE/5G) Router market is projected to grow from $1.4 billion to $2.5 billion by 2027.

Pete Smith, President and CEO of Aviat Networks, stated, “Our acquisition of 4RF will further strengthen and expand our product offering for the global industrial wireless access markets, including Private LTE/5G.”

4RF has over 300 critical infrastructure customers in 160 countries. The acquisition is expected to create cross-selling opportunities, as 90% of 4RF and Aviat’s utility customers do not overlap. The transaction is anticipated to be immediately beneficial to Aviat’s gross margin and accretive to adjusted EBITDA and non-GAAP EPS within the first year. Specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Aviat Networks, Inc. provides wireless transport and access solutions, serving communication service providers and private network operators globally. With a history spanning over 70 years, Aviat has sold more than one million systems in 170 countries.
