Tata Elxsi Breaks New Ground with World’s First RDK-B Integration on Qualcomm 5G FWA Platform

Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, unveiled a major technological breakthrough by successfully integrating the RDK-B software stack with Qualcomm’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 3 Platform. This marks the first-ever integration of its kind, signaling a new era for operators in providing fast, reliable, and scalable high-speed wireless access solutions.

Pioneering Wireless Innovation

This integration leverages cutting-edge features, such as Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, advanced security, and packet statistics, making the Qualcomm 5G FWA platform versatile and applicable in both indoor and outdoor environments. Operators can now offer advanced services like Quality of Service (QoS), band steering, parental control, and VPN, which significantly elevate the broadband user experience.

Gautam Sheoran, VP and GM of Wireless Broadband and Communications at Qualcomm Technologies, praised the collaboration, saying, “We are proud to work with Tata Elxsi, which has expertly ported the RDK-B stack to our 5G FWA Gen 3 Platform, featuring the Snapdragon® X75 Modem-RF System. This integration accelerates the deployment of high-performance FWA solutions, helping operators reduce development efforts while delivering cutting-edge wireless solutions.”

Expanding the RDK Ecosystem

Priya S Kumar, Head of Media and Communications at Tata Elxsi, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding the RDK ecosystem. Traditionally associated with wired technologies like DOCSIS and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), RDK-B is now being applied to the cellular-managed WAN space, thanks to this groundbreaking collaboration.

“This integration broadens the RDK ecosystem and silicon diversity,” Kumar stated, adding that Tata Elxsi is focused on positioning the Snapdragon X75 platform as a future-ready solution for high-performance broadband.

Looking Ahead: Next-Generation Wireless

Tata Elxsi is already planning to upgrade the platform to support Wi-Fi 7, paving the way for next-generation fixed wireless access devices. This evolution promises more flexibility, scalability, and cost-effective solutions for operators, ensuring they stay ahead in the rapidly advancing wireless landscape.
