ThinkRF has collaborated with VIAVI Solutions to help mobile operators, field technicians and wireless equipment providers monitor and test 5G spectrum and devices. Working together, ThinkRF and VIAVI created the D2030 downconverter to extend the range of all existing analyzers and test equipment into the next generation 5G spectrum, including 27-30 GHz.
The ThinkRF D2030 RF Downconverter is built on patented and highly innovative software-defined radio (SDR) technologies to extend the frequency range of VIAVI’s existing 2G/3G/4G CellAdvisor test equipment and other 3G/4G test equipment to 5G frequencies. It is engineered to work seamlessly with existing spectrum analysis equipment by downconverting RF signals from the 27-30 GHz frequency bands down to an intermediate frequency (IF) of 3.55 GHz or 5.6 GHz. This enables customers to maintain their existing Sub-6GHz hardware, interface, and software while conducting RF measurements and 5G analysis. The D2030 RF Downconverter enables additional capabilities for mobile operators, field operations technicians and wireless equipment providers without requiring a significant investment in new spectrum analysis equipment.
Measuring 7.5’’ x 8.5’’ x 1’’ and weighing less than 2lbs, this 5G RF downconverter features a compact design that makes it portable, versatile, and easy to use for 5G analysis in any deployment scenario without adding significant size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements. +12 VDC at 6 W allows it to be powered by an external battery, vehicle power outlet for increased mobility or standard power supply with plug adaptor.
